Management of Medical Emergencies for Practices 

The course is designed for dental and general practices preparing staff to manage the most common medical emergencies. This is a one day course with theory and different practical sessions.

Includes:

– Airway management, basic airway adjuncts and O2 administration.

– Adult Basic Life Support with Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

– Recognition and Management of Common Medical Emergencies (includes anaphylaxys and acute coronary syndromes).

– SBAR Handover.

– Resuscitation Equipment and Checklists.

All resuscitation courses are compliant with Resuscitation Council UK 2021 Guidelines and alined with Core Skills Training Framework (Level 2).

 

All resuscitation course instructors are resuscitation council UK instructors.

Entry
Requirements

Learners should be a minimum of 14 years of age to undertake this course.


Learners must be physically capable of performing CPR on the floor (for assessment purposes).

Management of Choking episodes


Initial Assessment – ABCDE


Management of anaphylaxis


Recognition of emergencies and call emergency services


Recognition of the collapsed patient

Cardiac compressions


Safety principles for the use of an AED


Appropriate use of an AED


Care for the person after resuscitation
